Golf Performance Program
Golf Swing Program
As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, Dr. Jeffrey Carroll is constantly seeking ways to help amateur and professional athletes prevent injury and enhance their performance. Which is why he and the physical therapy department at Movement Orthopedics have adopted a golf-focused evaluation and treatment program developed by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and designed to not only improve one’s golf game, but also help diagnose and treat physical conditions that may be limiting your golf swing.
The Golf Performance program uses advanced screening to pinpoint and address injuries, while providing rehabilitation for injured golfers of all levels. TPI’s program is based on 12 years of research studying the greatest golfers in the world and assessing how their bodies affect their golf swings. Factors such as strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, nutrition, stability, power, vision, and posture all influence the body’s mechanics. As such, the TPI Training and Certification provides a comprehensive set of tools to perform a full evaluation of your body so you can then work with a golf instructor to develop a more efficient and reliable golf swing.
Dr. Carroll has found that traditional teaching methods are mostly ineffective due to the disconnect between the instruction provided and the physical capabilities of the golfer. This is particularly the case if the golfer has had hip, knee, or shoulder surgery. There is a need for students to not only understand what is ineffective about their golf swing, but also take corrective measures to make significant and permanent change.
Movement Orthopedics’ Golf Performance program includes one of the most technologically advanced golf evaluation facilities in Michigan focusing on body mechanics with packages designed to identify issues and physical limitations, design fitness and swing programs to make changes, and – most importantly – to promote proper practicing of the desired motion in an environment that offers feedback as to whether you are correctly performing the prescribed programs. We also offer K-vest and Speed Stik programs.
